This talk brings together control theory, philosophy, and social science to examine the tensions between sustainability goals and social equity in the green transition.

We ask: what does a fair transition require, and can formal methods help us reason about competing demands on institutions and individuals? We propose a framework that models the green transition as a control problem with fairness constraints, and examine its philosophical presuppositions.
